There are times when you just need to go for a nice stroll without the need for lots of preparation and the walk itself doesn’t fill the the day, say about a hour and when at the end you just need to linger and say that was great and you are not quite ready to leave. Venford reservoir is just one such place it is not so far away that you spend long periods in the car to get there or return home. Choose a nice day and you might eek the out the day with lunch what better. Well Venford is the place for you just head of towards Buckfast Abby and after passing the Abby on you right head up to the top of the hill and follow the signs to Venford Reservoir and you in for a treat.Again you start to rise up until you go over a perimeter and then down towards the reservoir, crossing the dame you urn right into car park a few hundred feet further on. Unlike Fernworthy Reservoir the road continues on to Hexworthy and then meets the Dartmeet to Princetown Rd when you can drop down towards Pixy Holt and Dartmeet making it a nice round trip. The nice thing with Venford is the walk is about an hour fairly easy walking with tree routes to navigate but manageable to the able bodied walker. The walk is also quite sheltered from the wind most of the time.

Views across the Reservoir are splendid perhaps because the are is so easy to take in due to its smaller size making it very pleasing to the eye.
