Leeds Docklands

This week we arrived on the 4th of December. A week in North Yorkshire an area we have come to enjoy for many reasons, primarily that our daughter and family are living in Harrogate and we try o get to visit a couple of times a year. Our last visit was in January 2019 and sometimes there is very little to say or no pictures to put up. This time we spent the first few days visiting garden centre for lunch and generally catching up on the news of life in Yorkshire for them. Then Stephen our son in law, who is all but a son and not in law if you get the drift, got to Saturday and a chance to take us to some new venue. This Saturday the 7th we headed off to the Dockland area of Leeds which has been rejuvenated into a commercial area with some restaurants and a coffee bars etc. But the surprise was a Armoury Museum with enough hardware to raise a small army and start minor war with a small country somewhere!

Anyway this was one of the first images when you arrive in the dockland area, which I think is a business centre. Our first stop was for a coffee shop (very good to) before heading into the Museum where the surprise was awaiting us

The various implements of ware down through the ages adorn not only the inside of this column/Tower but the outside on the stair well walls, quite something.

We didn’t stair here long on arrival as the was a sword fight demonstration on the 2nd floor which was both entertaining and informative at the same time

These two chaps were great fun with lots of facts and how to slice up your opponent! Notice the foot ware quite original. Around this area are displays of war scenes played out with toy soldiers in cabinets. full blown statues of horses with mounts and armour,

The surrounding area is a bit concrete jungle but in fairness this was one of the dampest and wettest Decembers we have had in five years!

It is also a business area and there didn’t seem to many people about, but then at the weekend most workers will be off out somewhere else. It gets my vote anyway.
